Think about where you have seen this before. Doubles are everywhere in a body. You have two hands, two eyes, and two feet. God built pairs into His creatures on purpose. This is worth learning because doubles are the shortcut into near doubles and many other facts. Watch for it today with care.

When you spot a double, tell someone what you noticed. Tell them how you knew it too. Ask yourself where else the same idea might be hiding. Then go and look for it. Here comes a new math idea. A double adds a number to itself. That is the whole rule. It is simple and strong.

One and one is two. Two and two is four. Three and three is six. The list keeps going up to ten and ten, which is twenty. Notice that the answers are all even. They climb by two each time. Say the whole list every day for a week and it will stick in your mind.

Doubles are the easiest facts to memorize. They unlock many harder facts later. Try this pattern check. Say the doubles answers in order: two, four, six, eight, ten, twelve. Each one is two more than the last. If you forget one, rebuild it from its neighbor. Try it with a friend, then alone.
