Core Content
This idea walks around your house all day. Drafters draw from written specifications every day. The drawing must match the words exactly. This is worth learning because building from a description is how plans become real objects. Watch for it today, and when you spot it, tell someone what you noticed and how you knew. Ask yourself where else the same idea might be hiding, then go and look.
This idea is simple once you see it. Someone names attributes and you draw the shape. Four sides and four corners could be a square, a rectangle, or a rhombus. Three sides and three corners must be a triangle.
Draw slowly, closing the shape so no gap is left, because an open figure is not a shape at all. Count your sides after drawing to make sure you drew what was asked for rather than what your hand was used to.
Here is the common error. People draw a shape with the right number of sides but leave a small gap at the end. An open figure is not a closed shape, so check that your last line meets your first. Try a few on your own, and be patient with yourself.
