Core Content
This idea walks around your house all day. Cooks, farmers, and grocers weigh and pour all day. Fair measures keep trade honest. This is worth learning because weight and volume follow the same fairness rules as length. Watch for it today, and when you spot it, tell someone what you noticed and how you knew. Ask yourself where else the same idea might be hiding, then go and look.
This idea is simple once you see it. Length is not the only thing worth measuring. Hold one object in each hand and the heavier one presses down more. A balance scale shows it plainly: the heavier side sinks.
For containers, pour one into another, or fill both with the same cup and count the scoops. More scoops means it holds more. The same careful habits apply: fair setup, honest counting, and always naming your unit.
Watch out for judging weight by size. A big pillow is lighter than a small stone. Size and weight are different attributes, and your hands will tell you the truth faster than your eyes will. Try a few on your own, and be patient with yourself.
